|Volunteer for Garden Walk Buffalo!|
Garden Walk is looking for volunteers to help out the weekend of the Walk. We're looking to "staff" our two headquarters with enthusiastic supporters of the Walk that can help answer questions for estimated 60,000 visitors (20% come from out-of-town and don't know the area well!), encourage donations, help visitors with their purchases of GW merchandise, and direct visitors to areas of the Walk that they may find of interest.
You do not even have to be an expert on everything Garden Walk (or plants!) to volunteer. A volunteer orientation session is planned for early- to mid-July. This year the training session will include a mini-tour bus ride to many Garden Walk gardens and neighborhoods! You'll have a chance to meet and learn more about Garden Walk directly from some of the gardeners.
Volunteer shifts are usually 3-4 hours (or more if you like!), so it allows you plenty of time to go out and still visit gardens. Dates when volunteers are needed are Saturday and Sunday, July 28 and 29, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each HQ has its own supervisor, so you'll be assigned a task that matches your skills or desired participation levels.
From a new committee volunteer, Laurie Brown, "I have been involved on many different levels with many different not-for-profit organizations, both in Buffalo and in other communities where I have lived in the past, and I can say confidently that I have NEVER worked with a more dedicated, committed, active, talented, positive thinking group of people. You exemplify all the very best of what Buffalo has to offer and I am so proud to be affiliated with Garden Walk Buffalo. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to contribute to and be a part of this amazing annual event."
